A total of 79 crore people in the country have ration cards. In these 12 states, 35 million people will benefit from One Nation One Ration Card. It will come into force in 20 states in June 2020.
People from low income who work from one state to another will get the most benefit from this scheme. These are Aadhaar link cards. You will get this benefit through e point of sale. To make One Nation One Ration Card possible, 880 crores rupees are being spent on computerization.
‘One Nation One Ration Card’ will initially be applicable in 12 states. Ration card holders of these states will be able to take their ration in any state.

There is good news for people going to other states to look for work. From January 15, ‘One Nation One Ration Card’ will be implemented. Beneficiaries can avail food security under the National Food Security Act using their existing ration card after biometric certification on e-POS equipment anywhere in the country.
Beneficiaries will be able to get the benefit of portability without any extra cost or paperwork and there is no need for them to return the existing ration card issued in their home state or union territory and apply for a new ration card in the state of migration.
